We will gladly accept you with open arms, but first... what is your name?"[/style]
slouched, expressionless, steele eyeballed his new dean, unimpressed by her introduction. "the name's steele. don't ask me why my parents decided to call me after a rusty piece of metal for i have no fucking clue. maybe for their own sick amusement, i s'pose." wishing he were anywhere but here at the moment, he knew his hesitations would only prolong this pathetically pointless interview. it wasn't like she would remember any of this anyways five minutes after he left. besides, doesn't she have all this information on file anyways, along with a photograph? other than a complete waste of time, this interview had no other relevant purpose. there was no need for her to get a confirmation that his birthday was october thirteenth, or that he was born on friday the thirteenth. anyone can get one good look at him and assume he's eighteen, practically old enough to get the hell out of here, but not yet, according to the school. the brunette haired boy slid further into his seat, hoping she wouldn't notice his avoidance towards conersation. the next thing he knew, she would be expecting him to get on a scale because she didn't believe him that he weight one hundred and thirty pounds to the exact measurement.
finally he gave in and looked back at the dean, wondering if she was expecting something more from him. he had answered her completely, right? she juts wanted to know his name. or maybe she was a mind reader, so she was reading his mind right not to see if he was a threat to the school's reputation or not. sometimes steele really wished he had the ability to read people's minds instead of the lame one he was given. it would make this interview go a lot quicker and he would be on his way. steele stared at her, speculating what her judgement of him might be, but her next sentence broke his concentration.

Now, before we can accept you, we must know what your records are. Can you tell them to me, please?"[/style]
he sat up in his seat, a bit confused. was he in the right place? did they not already speak with the police? or was she bluffing to see if he would make up some fictional story about how his parents care so much for his well being and academic excellence that they wanted the best for their son. steele kind of wished that were the case, it would save him a lot of breath an explanation. the one thing steele hated the most was talking about himself to people who he feels were trying to control him. "well, my parents believe i walk on water and that i am their golden child..." steele started, but stopped to laugh. "you know, growing up, i received superior advice from my parents. the most important advice they gave me was 'if you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say it at all.' so, would you believe i had nothing to say about my parents?" sarcasm, one of steele's most cherished characteristic.
"alright, don't get your panties in a bunch. i'll tell you." steele sighed, knowing there was no way to dig himself out of the grave he just carved for himself. "before i was born, i had an older brother who was my parents' pride and joy. he had perfect grades, teacher's pet, and my parents were on their knees night and day, praising him for his glory. my brother and his excellence cast a huge shadow over me." steele stopped for a little dramatic effect. "the only time my parents ever paid attention to me was when i was being scolded. didn't take long before i started to getting into the habit." steele hated admitting to anything, normally he would just turn the other cheek and pretend he was innocent, but not even he could hold back the genius within him.
"when i was about five or six, i started having episodes where i would fall asleep somewhere and wake up somewhere completely different. at first, it would just around the house. i would fall asleep in my bed and wake up on the couch in a completely different room. at first i thought i had sleep walked, so i barricaded my bedroom door one night. the next morning, i woke up on the kitchen floor, but the weirdest shit happened. my belongings remained untouched. i even had to climb in through my bedroom window just to get back inside, it was blocking the door so well, that the door wouldn't budge." steele chuckled. "you had to be there to see for yourself. that's not it though. i swear i'm my own worst enemy. the second i got into my room, my alarm clock went off and the next thing i knew, i was sitting at my desk in school in my pajamas. granted, my school was about a good thirty minutes away from school, driving wise. and i got there in a milisecond, maybe even sooner. don't tell me you're not impressed." steele rasied an eyebrow, hoping she would be somewhat awed. when no such reaction occurred, steele lowered his eyebrow.
"but that's all kids' stuff, huh. i guess you're looking for something that relates a little more to my current self. well, ever since i started getting the hang of my power, i began to abuse it." despite what she may think or say, steele was damn proud of his genius mind. "you see, my parents were always racking their heads around the fact that i would beat them down the stairs of our tiny, two story house, when they did not see me pass them. i was smooth. they could believe whatever they wanted, but my secret was safe. they weren't smart enough to figure their son had super powers." steele smiled. "anyways, i keep getting distracted from the real story. one day i set the stakes even higher and wanted to do something that was both risky but incredibly rewarding. the idea came to me clear out of the blue. i honestly don't know how it came to me, it just did. but one day after class, i went to the bank to cash out some money to go to a strip club when i saw the door of the vault closing and thought to myself, why should i waste my time working and begging my parents for money, when i can just take the money from that vault." steele stopped again. "do you have some water? my mouth is getting dry." he noticed she was not finding this confession as intriguing and fun as he did.
he nervously cleared his throat, realizing he might have already said too much," anyways, you can guess what happened. late that night, i used my power to get inside that vault. and it worked! i was in there, faster than the best safecracker to unlock the lock. i don't recall what happened from then on, but it was an amazing feeling, until the cops arrived." steele scowled. "if it weren't for setting off the security from the inside of the vault, my plan would have been flawless. since i was only seventeen and all the money was accounted for, i spent one night in jail and three months community service. that didn't account for the punishment my parents gave me: where i had to attend every award ceremony and luncheons that my brother was invited to. they also wouldn't rest until i told them how i was able to break into the vault without ever opening the doors. i tried avoiding the question, but one night the three of them ganged up on me and i panicked, doing the one thing i knew best, and teleported." what a sad, and tragic way to end his exciting story. "i was gone for a good three weeks before the police found me trying to flea after breaking into a jewelry store. they returned me home, where my parents had already contacted this place and got my transferred here."
"oh, did i forget to mention, i'm also bisexual, so you can use your imagination as to who and where i've had sex. all my partners i've taken on trips with all agree i'm one hell of a romatnic." steele winked.
{style=width: 501px; background-color: 141414; font-size: 10px; padding: 5; font-family: garamond; color: 7a6252; text-transform: uppercase; text-align:justify; letter-spacing: 1; border-top: 10px solid #0f0f0f; border-bottom: 10px solid #0f0f0f;}"Fascinating. Seeing as you'll be on the campus of Ashes, we must know what your personality is like. Are you gifted?"[/style]
steele gave her a skeptical look, "that's it? you're not going to try and guilt me into apologizing for my past or tell me what a horrible human being i am that i would try stealing from innocent people? and here i thought this school raised robin hood!" steele joked. "well, obviously someone needs a bigger sense of humor. i was just kidding. robin hood has no powers, he's just a thief who stole from the guilt and gave to the poor. well, just think of me as stealing from the poor and giving to the poorer - me."
"am i gifted? are you serious? were you even paying attention to me while i explained my life story?! honestly, you people, you're only interested in the superficial stuff. my biggest pet peeve is when people badger me about telling them my life story and then not even having the patience or respect to listen to my answer. i poured my heart out to you and you ask me if i'm gifted. my gift pretty much sums up my entire life story, if you didn't get that before. alright, alright, i will only tell you if you swear you're new at this. teleport, or teleportation, is defined in the dictionary as the transfer of matter from one point or another magically, or something like that. i don't know, do i look like a fucking dictionary? no, i'm a student. who also happens to be a teleporter." his sarcasm was really beginning to get the best of him. he was starting to shake in his boots, a sign that he was getting a bit antsy to get out of here. he had been there all afternoon, waiting for his name to be called. "well, don't get all excited, my teleportation has some limitations to it as well. though i can go almost anywhere, i am unable to teleport somewhere where i have never been before. for an example, when i said that i caught the door closing on the vault where the money was stored. if i did not get a glimpse of the immediate spot i am going to teleport, and see it with my own eyes, i am unable to do it. i am, however, allowed to teleport to somewhere from pictures, but the problem with that is, not all pictures i know where i am going, so i can think i am going to hawaii, i can end up somewhere in florida. oh, just for your information, don't ever trust the pictures on the postcards."
"another thing i can not stand is when people judge me because they do not know any better. so what if i'm a little kleptomanic, or that i enjoy spontaneously appearing out of thin air next to you just to scare you, i am not a freak. i don't like people who are judgemental and i don't like people who think they are superior to me. i know i am just awesome, so no one can beat me. did i mention, i'm a little narcissistic? well, who wouldn't be with this exterior." steele raised his arms, pretending to show off the nonexistent muscle. "anyways, i like to exercise and running, even though every high school sport i tried out for i could not stand to lose and so i cheated. to this day, my coach is amazed that i was able to run a mile in under two minutes. what can i say? i'm fast."
contrary to popular belief, steele actually is very romantic - when he wants to be. however, most of the time he is influenced by today's need for sex and drugs and fast paced living. he is always in a hurry sometimes he spirals out of control. he really is not all that cocky or conceited, however he is very proud of what he does, regardless if it is right or wrong. steele does not have a whole lot of hobbies, except maybe explore the world. another flaw in his teleportation, is other than dodging and the occasion fleaing, there really is no use for it against other people with powers, so he spends a lot of time boxing or playing other strength sports.

When you come to Ashes, it is very easy to get mixed up on what you want to do later in life. Let's clear up that confusion now while we have the chance. What would you like to do in the future?"[/style]
"would you believe i were joking if i want to figure out a way to deactivate the security within the vault of the bank?" steele asked, looked at the interviewer one more time, before answering his own question. "yeah, i don't think so either. i guess you'll never know, however. i would like to learn more about my power, and if at all, there's more and i'm only bearly scratching the surface. i would also like to be self employed, meaning i schedule my own time, holidays, and shifts. maybe you guys should do that for students to pick their own schedules here, that way everyone's happy."
dreams, goals, personal achievements go here.
